For over 80 years, May has been designated as Better Speech and Hearing Month to spread awareness about what if means to being hearing or speech impaired and what can be done to create a better life for those who may be experiencing a hearing deficit. The mission statement of REM Audiology has always been based upon the provision of comprehensive services for those in need of specialized hearing and speech care, regardless of age. Treatment plans are individualized according the the needs and lifestyle of each unique patient while providing professional attention that reflects dedication to improving the quality of life for all of REM's patients. Founder Elizabeth Patterson AuD has, through her great passion for the industry has grown and expanded her practice over 40 years to include 6 Doctors of Audiology in Medford and Voorhees NJ and in Philadelphia Pa. Each Doctor of Audiology remains dedicated to increasing their knowledge about the newest technology by attending seminars and educational events. It is the intention of the REM Audiologists in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania that each client that enters through our doors leave with more knowledge about their hearing situation than when they first came through out doors. Our Knowledge is power and that sense of empowerment elevates the quality of life for our clients. Each patient will be made aware of all the options available to them......assisting in the decision making process that is unique for him or her.
Each REM Audiologist in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania is capable of assisting the hearing impaired client of any age. Our patients range from infants/toddlers to geriatric clients. Yet each audiologist goes above and beyond to develop expertise in specific areas of passion and interest. Dr. Maegan Mapes AuD and Dr. Shaina Nishimura AuD are both specialists who deal directly with school districts to ensure a secure and rich educational environment for hearing impaired youth. Dr. Ayda Shimelis AuD, Dr. Tony Philip AuD and Dr. Jorge Zavala extend themselves beyond required criteria in order to insure expert treatment for adults with hearing impairment. Dr. Tony Philip and Dr. Jorge Zavala are also passionate about prevention of hearing loss in both industrial and everyday situations that expose people to intense sounds that could cause hearing losses. Mrs. Kathy Young has a passion for the geriatric patients, traveling to nursing homes and assistive living facilities. The ability to hear becomes all the more important with the aging process. Founder Dr. Elizabeth Patterson remains dedicated in making sure that she herself and all the staff and audiologists in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania remain current with latest knowledge and that each audiologist is encouraged to follow their area of passion. The office is equipped to demonstrate latest technology including blue tooth streaming and other assistive listening devices including closed captioned telephones. Hearing is so important to maintain and enhance cognitive, psychological, social and overall physical health. Such individualized demonstrations of the latest hearing technologies let people know what they have been missing.
